I'm looking for someone to correct my babelfish-inspired Spanish translations for Red vs Blue, for seasons prior to Recreation. If you speak and write Spanish fluently and can include those pesky accents where needed, and you're interested in helping out Rooster Tooths, just post here claiming a season, and then roll up all your corrections and email them to webmaster@roostertooths.com with the subject line Espanol - (season). You'll be doing the community a huge favour.

The transcript for chapter 15 is up at last, bringing the total number of Red vs Blue dialogue I've transcribed to just over 16,000. I think Burnie's trying to kill me. At least there's no Spanish any more.

I've also simplified the menu a little. The Transcripts tab had a submenu that almost stretched the entire length of the page because every season was listed, so I've trimmed it down to three items: Season Index (which is the same as the top level link), Search, and Stats. They may be renamed down the road, but I'm going to stick with the reduced transcript menu from here on out.

I've added a new page that shows some quick statistics on the transcripts. Here it is. That is all.

First of all, the transcript for Chapter 14 is up over here. It was important that I get that transcript into the site as soon as possible, for one simple reason: it's time to launch that new feature I've been going on about.

And what is this feature, you might ask? What could possibly have caused the size of the Rooster Tooths database to temporarily swell by 100% in a matter of days (The swelling's gone down, by the way, which is always a good sign)? Well I'll tell you. Rooster Tooths now has a fully functional, fully integrated, completely shiny, Transcript Search Feature.

That's right folks, for the first time in history you can search through over 20,000 lines of blocking and dialogue from all the transcripts on this site. Want to know how many times someone said Awesome in Captain Dynamic? Here you go. Want to find everything the Tree ever said in 1-800 Magic? Here it is. Want to see every time anyone ever said "Son of a bitch" in Red vs Blue? It's right at your fingertips!

The existing transcripts have all been updated to make sure they're all formatted the same. This had to be done in order to lay the groundwork for that awesome new thing I've been talking about. It's almost here, by the way. With a bit of luck, it could be ready in time for RvBTO, just in time for lots of people not to have a chance to use it right away. The timing is amusing, if nothing else.

A side-effect of today's changes is that some of the transcripts may have been modified in unexpected ways, so if you find any that are noticeably incorrect, please leave me a note in the comments to this news item and I'll correct it as soon as I can.

Also, the transcript for Chapter 14 is still coming, so don't worry about this preempting that or anything.

The new code has now been pushed to the Translations section and the Character Bios section. I've also turned off ratings and comments on old-style links to those pages and Transcripts, so if you want to leave feedback on any adjusted content you'll have to click the link in the breadcrumbs at the top of the page to get the current version of that page.

This is, of course, all being done in preparation of an upcoming addition to the website, so hold on to your knickers and brace yourself, because if all goes well then things are going to get pretty awesome around here pretty soon.

I just did some massive code rewrites to the Transcripts section. Most notably, you'll notice all the links are different; rather than using something like transcripts.php?show=rvb&season=revelation&ep=13, it's been shortened down to transcripts.php?eid=260. The old links will still work, but the new ones are favoured. I also fixed a few typos that had been pointed out by users but that had gone unhandled.

The end result for you, the user, is that nothing has visibly changed except for a few column widths and some titles. For me, however, everything has just gotten easier to work with, and because of how the new code works I have the chance to do some really cool stuff in the future. Chalk this one up to future development.
